Phoebe Ping is a local to San Diego and has always had music in her life, studying the cello, going as far as earning her masters at Boston University. Along with her musical aspirations, she always dreamed of being a costume designer. In 2017 she achieved this goal earning her MFA in costume design, combining her passion for music and theater.
Phoebe believes that geek couture is an important part of the fashion world due to how it offers an escape as well as creates communities of acceptance.
Her entry into the Her Universe Fashion Show for 2018 was based on the character Eve from Wall-E. It includes the sleek lines of the EVE droid from the movie with the shape and all white look including a cape which gives the sense the model is hovering like the droid. To replicate the face panel of EVE she created large shades which glowed when the lights were lowered.
