Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Brianna Casper, taught herself to sew, along with design and cosplay. Trying to express herself as a youth, it was difficult for her to find items representing her interests. As she began to get involved in anime, comic books and anything nerdy, Japanese street fashions became her mode of clothing. Her peers considered her “weird” but feeling free to do as she pleased, she wore undefined fashions, which were reminiscent of costumes. Combining stories with all types of media has inspired her design techniques. Her hope is to demonstrate that fashion may use a bit of costume and being true to yourself is always in fashion.
