Kathryn Henzler of Perrysburg Ohio is an athlete, designer, composer, performer, animal rights activist, and nerd. Back in junior high she developed an interest in fashion, which lead her into cosplay. She after graduating from university began doing costuming for museum exhibitions, figure skating, theater productions, and independent films.
Geek couture has a large effect on what she designs now, and she believes it will become an even bigger part in the future of fashion. Henzler believes geek couture allows greater expression, for designers and consumers, allowing them greater expression and the ability to represent their passions openly and without judgment. This safe space appeared in fandoms and conventions, and with geek fashion, in the regular world. In the past she has used vegan fabrics, but has switched to organic, fair-trade and environmentally friendly materials.
